Most languages do not have dedicated, primitive words for pitch. They borrow terms from other sensory domains, the most dominant being height (English, German, Dutch, Swedish, Polish, Russian, Finnish, Japanese, Chinese, &c.) The Latin terms "acute" and "grave" come from Greek.
