Notes

Almost all of Europe borrowed the same Arabic word for "cotton". Except the German, that uses Baumwolle "tree wool". Japanese also has 木綿 (momen) "tree floss", which inspired this neologism. Debate: I think "galatho" is solid enough. Parmandil thinks it should be a later compound. I think that would yield "galado", quoting David Salo's §4.123. Discussion has stalled, and I stick to my original suggestion.
